Varsity Football -- District Championship Print E-mail

On October 31, 10th ranked LH Wildcats played 11th ranked Creekview Ponies for the 9-5A District Championship. The 48-42 overtime win cinched a tie for the Wildcats. A win next week against Molina will give LH their first District Championship since 1998.

Ricky Zorn capped a 90 yards drive with a 2 yards run. James Duke recovered a fumble on the kickoff which turned into a FG by Jason Dann for a 1st quarter lead of 10-0. Creekview scored two TD's followed by another Jason Dann field goal and Creekview scored another TD to make the halftime score LH 13 Creekview 21. Creekview scored on their first possession of the 3rd quarter. Down by 15 points, the Wildcats answered with a 51 yards touchdown run by Antoine Harrison. Harrison, then scored his second touchdown, followed by a 2 points conversion from Ricky Zorn to Austin Jones to tie the game. Harrison than scored his 3rd TD of the night to give LH the lead. Creekview answered with a TD and Ricky Zorn had another TD to give LH a 42-35 lead. Creekview scored a TD with 12 seconds left to send the game into overtime. In the first overtime period, the LH held Creekview scoreless with a key tackle from David Green. The Wildcats got the ball and Ricky Zorn ran it in for the winning score. The LH Wildcats are now ranked 7th in the DFW area, and ranked 3rd in total offense with 448 yards per game.

October 24        LH 52  WT White 6
The Wildcats clinched their first playoff berth since 2005 with a 52-6 win over the Longhorns. Andrew Atamah returned a fumble for 81 yards for the Wildcats first score. Ricky Zorn threw for two touchdowns to receivers Dionte Garrett and Billy Allen. Antoine Harrison rushed for two touchdowns in the first half. In the 3rd quarter, Ricky Zorn rushed for a touchdown, followed by a Jason Dann field goal, and Avery Hatcher completed the scoring with another touchdown run. David Green and Reid McCann both had interceptions. Reid McCann was named the coaches players of the game with 5 tackles, an assist, and continued pressure on the quarterback, along Antoine Harrison who had 13 carries for 117 yards and two touchdowns.

October 17       LH 38  Richardson 7
The Wildcats scored 28 points in the 1st half and went on to win 38 to 7. Coaches players of the game were Desmond Roland with 14 carries for 147 yards and 3 touchdown and Roderick Mackey with 7 tackles and 2 assists. Ricky Zorn passed for 274 yards and threw for 3 touchdowns to Billy Allen, who had 8 catches for 171 yards. Jason Dann kicked 1 field goal and 5 extra points. The defense held Richardson's offense to 172 total yards.

October 10        LH 35          Berkner 14
The Wildcats started out strong against rival, Berkner Rams with a TD run by Ricky Zorn and two passing TD's to Austin Jones. The Rams scored a touchdown in the second quarter, the Wildcats answered with a touchdown run from Ricky Zorn to finish the half with a 28-7 lead. Austin Jones and Deondre Glover each recovered a fumble. James Duke caused a fumble in the 3rd quarter on a kick-off. Berkner scored in the 3rd quarter and LH answered with another rushing TD by Ricky Zorn to make the final score 35-14. Ricky Zorn (2 passing TD, 3 rushing TD) and Austin Jones (9 tackles, 7 assists, 2 TD, 1 FCV) were both named coaches players of the game and received honorable mention from Dallas Morning News.

October 3        LH 59            Sunset 0
After a solid victory over Skyline, in which Andrew Atamah was named Metro DFW area defensive player of the week, the Wildcats returned to the Boneyard to play the Sunset Bisons. Coach Scott Smith was named U.S.Army/Dallas Cowboys Coach of the Week after the Skyline victory. Desmond Roland was named coaches player of the game with 60 receiving yards, 87 rushing yards, and scoring 3 TD's. The Wildcats scored on their first three possessions with Ricky Zorn throwing a 71 yards TD to Dionte Garrett, a 59 yards to Desmond Roland, and an 18 yards to Billy Allen. Desmond Roland scored 2 more rushing TD, with Taylor Stephan and Avery Hatcher each adding another TD to make the halftime score 49-0. Travis Crawford and Quincy Lane each had an interception in the first half and Matt Miller recovered a fumble in the second half. In the second half, Kevin Klindworth had a touchdown and a fumble recovery. Jason Dann added a field goal to make the final score 59-0. The defense held Sunset to 142 yards.
