Dear LHFC Parents,
I want to first congratulate you and your student on a great start to the 2008-2009 school year! I hope that everyone has adjusted well to the Freshman Center and I am very pleased with the overall enthusiasm of our students and their determination to be the best.

 Our main focus this year is the continued emphasis on student achievement. We can't be successful as a school without your continued support. As we progress into the school year, I want to share some tutoring initiatives that we have in place for our students to utilize. We have tutoring in all subjects offered each Monday and Wednesday after school from 4:15-5:10. There are late busses running each of those days at 5:15.

We are also offering TAKS Super Saturdays in Reading and Math from 9-12pm. In the upcoming weeks, we will offer the following Saturday tutorials:

Our TAKS Saturdays will include snacks in the morning and pizza for lunch. We have already completed our first session. Busses will also be running at 9am and 12pm.

Parents, please be aware that you can connect to our teachers' blackboard site by internet. This will give you an idea of instructional units and general information about each class. We believe that our students can accomplish anything they set their minds to and we want to also encourage student involvement in extra-curricular activities. Please see our counselors for a list of clubs and organizations.

Our Holiday dance this year is scheduled for December 12. This will be a lot of fun for our students and an opportunity for them to bond as the class of 2012!

We have many things to be thankful for here at LHFC, and I am looking forward to meeting you as we continue this journey together.
